Styx Master of Shadow : Inspired lEVEL

Level design and block-out on Unreal engine 4

As part of a level design course at ICAN, we had to create a map for Styx: Shards of Darkness for a test to apply for a level design internship at Cyanide Studio.


The engine used for this test is Unreal Engine:


Level Pitch:

Styx has managed to infiltrate a human naval base hidden deep within the rock. He must now destroy their Lighthouse to cut them off from the world and thus prevent the resupply of the human naval force.

 

Quest Design:

- 1) Access the boat hangars.

- 2) Find a way to cross the bridge and reach the radio tower.

- 2-1) Steal the treasure from the ships' holds.

- 3) Gather information on the camp's explosives expert.

- 4) Find the bomb expert in the fishing village.

- 5) Find a way to eavesdrop on his conversation and discover the location of the fireworks.

- 6) Steal some bombs.

- 7) Plant and detonate the bomb in the lighthouse.

- 8) Escape from the base through a secret passage.
